Major Cities in Morocco:
Casablanca, The Place for Business
With a population of over 3 million, Casablanca is the largest city in Morocco buzzing with cultures and businesses. A city that is brimming with businesses, Casablanca makes up about 60% of Morocco’s total trade. As much as it houses historical monuments with unchallenged architecture like the Church of the Sacred-Heart and the Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca prides itself on providing large MICE demands. As in 2017, Casablanca ranked top three for most visited cities in Morocco for non-resident tourists. Phosphates, textiles, fisheries and electronics are some of its famous exports, thanks to its main port declared as one of the world’s largest artificial ports.
Rabat, The Modern and The Ancient
As the capital city of Morocco in the Atlantic coast, Rabat is more than an administrative centre. Rabat is a stunning city for merging modernity with its Arab-Andalusian ancient landscape, doing so by encouraging the growth of its retail outlets up to 28% of total retails in Morocco and protecting its older heritage such as the Hassan Mosque and the Almohad ramparts. While its old Medina is still bursting with bustling souks and bazaars, Rabat also houses several urban developments such as seen in its latest infrastructure, the new Rabet-Sale Bridge. With over 1 million population, Rabat nearly ties with Casablanca as the most populated city not just by locals, but also by international students and foreign companies.
Marrakesh, The Place for Leisure
Marrakech, known as a “red city”, is famous beyond than just for its striking red houses. Ranging from challenging golf courses, hunting rare hand-crafts at the local souks, relaxing in high-end spas, or enjoying fresh, natural views, Marrakesh offers a range of exciting leisure activities for its visitors. As the country’s top visited city, Marrakesh contains the highest hotel beds of 30% of the overall supply and is ranked as the eighth best destination for travelers, according to TripAdvisor.
